Sr. Division, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, ChandraShekhar extended the punishment as per the request of Investigation official for further detailed investigation.
Yogesh Poojary (30), a resident of Ontibettu village near Hiriyadka; Anand, aged about 28 and a resident of Sanakkibettu, near Parkala and Hariprasad Poojary (27), a resident of Badagabettu in Parkala village, Manipal, out of which two of the accused attempted suicide. Hariprasad arrested initially later as per the health condition the other two were taken into custody.
Two persons, Balachandra, brother of Yogesh, and Harindra, brother of Hariprasad, who tried to destroy evidence in the case, too were arrested by the police on July 2. They are in judicial custody at the district jail in Anjar village, till July 15.
A student of Manipal University from Kerala was abducted in an autorickshaw and later gang-raped near Manipal on the night of June 20. She is a medical student and had to suffer a fracture in her leg, received treatment at the KMC Hospital and was discharged on July 4.
Earlier the district sessions court judge-Nagajyothi has remanded all for Judicial Custody till 15th of this month at Shimoga Jail.
The police have been given approval of DNA tests to be conducted on all 3 accused in there last hearing.
