During the New Year celebrations, publics asked to follow some rules

Mangaluru, December 31: It has been ordered by Mangaluru Police Commissioner S Murugan to follow certain rules during the New Year celebrations on the night of Thursday, December 31st.

A release from commissioners office states, all the hotels, restaurants, clubs, resorts and other organizations need to stop the celebrations by 12. 30a.m. All the functions need to be held inside the premises of these establishments. If any restaurants or liquor serving hotels are willing to serve liquor beyond this time, they need to obtain special written permission from the excise department. If the function is public, then the permission should be sought from concerned departments and the function should end by 12.30 am.

All the establishments that wish to use loud speakers should obtain permission on December 31st by 4 pm from city police commissioner’s office. An application needs to be submitted for the permission. Stringent actions will be taken against establishments who do not obtain permission and use loud speakers. In order to avoid untoward incidents, the owners and managers of the establishments have been asked to take precautionary measures.

The release also says that women and children should not be disturbed during the celebrations time and afterwards. They should not be greeted against their wishes. A squad to look after the safety of women and children has been formed. Bursting crackers are prohibited during celebrations which disturb the general public. Stopping the vehicles unnecessarily on the road on the pretext of wishing people happy New Year forcibly should be avoided.

Traffic police have formed teams with specialists to detect the drivers who consume liquor beyond specified limit.

Security has been beefed across the city. The city police commissioner has asked the public’s to celebrate the New Year peacefully and maintain law and order. He said, stringent actions will be taken against those who try to disrupt law and order.
