Boy accidentally falls into well and dies while attempting to rescue cat

Mangaluru, December 31: In a tragic incident, a boy who tried to rescue a cat from drowning in the well accidentally fell into the well and expired. This incident took place near Ashwathapura Seetharam temple in Moodbidri on Wednesday, December 30th.

The deceased boy is identified as Adarsha Shetty (12), son of Anil Shetty, a resident near Ashwathapura temple. He was studying in seventh standard at Vani Vilas aided Higher Primary School.

It is said, the boy who was worried that a cat had fallen into the well tried to save it. It is suspected that he might have fallen into the well after losing balance while attempting to save the cat.

Meanwhile, the family noticed that the boy was missing from the house. They along with the neighbours began to search for him. They found his slippers near the well and when they looked inside, they found his body.

The Moodbidri police have registered a case.

It is said, Adarsh was a talented student and since the morning of Wednesday, preparations were going on in his school for the annual day. The school in which he was studying was preparing for its annual programme. The event was postponed following the untimely demise of the boy.

Anil Shetty works as a security guard at Kallamandkur and his wife Vimala works at an Anganwadi centre in Ashwathapara. Three years ago, their elder son had expired in a road accident at Marigudi in Moodbidri.

The couple lost both their children and are in a state of shock.
