Congress leaders celebrate Birthday of Sonia Gandhi- Fruits and sweets distributed.

Mangaluru, January 02: Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary on Friday, January 01st distributed fruits and sweets at St. Josephs Prashant Nivas Ashram in Jeppu here as part of Birthday celebrations of Congress National president Sonia Gandhi.

Speaking on this occasion, Former Union Minister B Janardhan Poojary said, due to the electoral code of conduct, instead of celebrating the Birthday of congress president Sonia Gandhi on December 29th, the celebrations are held today on January 01st. Intolerance is rising in the country and a situation has arised wherein one feels scared to speak. We need peace in the country and the communalism has to be rooted out, he said.

On this occasion, Former Union Minister B Janardhan Poojary preached the oath to maintain peace in the country.

Sweets and fruits were also distributed by State Health minister U T Khader, MLA J.R Lobo, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, head of St Josephs Prashanth Nivas- Sr Silvia, Congress leaders namely Kallige Taranath Shetty and Nagendra on this occasion.

Congress leaders namely A.C. Bhandary, Keshava Maroli, Naveen D’Souza, Appi, Shailaja, Ratikala, Asha D’Silva, Sabita, T.K.Sudheer, Prabhakar Shriyan, Mohan Shetty, Namita Rao, Sashikala Kadri, Karunakar Shetty, Siddique and others were present.
