Pulse polio immunization scheduled on Jan 17th and Feb 21st.

Mangaluru, January 02: The first phase of pulse polio immunization programme in the district will be held on Sunday January 17th and then on February 21st informed Dr Ramakrishna Rao, district health and family welfare officer on Friday January 1st.

The polio drops will be administered to children below five years of age.

Dr Ramakrishna Rao, addressing a press meet at his office said, as a precautionary measure, pulse polio programme is organised in our district. Now, as per the direction of central government and state government, pulse polio programme will be conducted on January 17th and February 21st. On first day of the pulse polio programme, polio drops will be administered in booths and during the next two to three days by visiting each house, so that polio drops are given to all children below 5- years of age, he said.

He said, in DK district, a total of 1,68,947 children who are below five years will be vaccinated at 921 vaccination centres. Polio vaccination centres are district health and family welfare offices, taluk health centre offices, public hospitals, city family welfare centres, community health centres, and primary health care centres.

A total of 3,828 vaccine providers and 192 supervisors have been assigned to provide polio drops, he said.
