Karsargod/ Kundapura:July 18: Kasargod police arrested Rathish and Prema, a resident of Tsunami Colony in Kasargod district for selling two of their male children for money.
They sold their elder son Nikil for a sum of Rs 1.6 lac, 1.5 years back. Prema was mentally ready to sell Nikil, to the couple Krishnayya Achar and Shantha from Kundapur. Rathish and Prema are remanded now.
It was said by the police that two weeks back Rathish sold his second son, (six-month-old Bablu) made Prema angry and she forwarded complaint at the nearby police station. During investigation, this incident came to light that she had no objection for selling her elder son.
The deal was happened with the help of Ashalatha a Mangalore-based lady advocate.
Elder son Nikhil was sold for Rs 60,000 and Bablu was sold for Rs 1 lac. Police found Bablu in a house in Mangalore and took him into custody. Now both Nikil and Balu are under police protection.
