Mangalore, July 18: Addressing the press reporters in the press meet held at press club on July 18, Thursday D M Aslam, President DK Dakshina Kannada football association said in his address that DK Dakshina Kannada football association (DKDFA) affiliated to Karnataka state football association (KSFA) will organize the 17th independence cup football tournament at city’s Nehru Maidan football ground.
He further said that tournament will commence on July 20, Saturday at 9.30 am and Abhayachandra Jain, minister for youth welfare and sports affairs will inaugurate the 27-day tournament.
The tournament would be held in six categories, which includes higher primary school (Boys and Girls), High School (Boys & Girls), P U College (Boys) and professional college (Boys), he added
Already a total of 200 teams from all categories have registered for the tournament and the final in the high school, P U College and professional college will be played on August 15.The last date for the registration of teams from P U and professional colleges is July 26,he said.
Yuvaraj, Bengre, DKDFA Jt.Secretary, Vijaya Suvarna, KSFA member, Anil P V treasurer were present in the meet.
