Moodbidri/Udupi, July 22: Shivraj Rai, member of Moodbidri town municipal council, committed suicide here on Monday July 22.
A member of Congress party, Rai was said to have been suffering from terminal illness which reportedly led him to take the extreme step.
Rai made name for himself by indulging in public service activities. Contesting from the Mariyaadi ward. He was 41.
He represented JD(S) twice and later he switched to Congress. He become a winning candidate representing Congress this time. Rai was part of the Kotebagilu ward of Moodbidri TMC.
He was earlier in JD(S) and had switched over to Congress recently.
He got married about two years ago and has an infant baby(2month). The exact reason for his act is unknown.
