Udipi;July 29: The judicial custody of Yogish, Hariprasad, and Anand ,all of three have been accused in the Manipal gang–rape case were produced to the court on July 29,Monday and subsequently have been sent to judicial custody till August 12 by the Udipi Senior division additional chief judicial magistrate Chandrashekar.
The accused Yogish, Hariprasad, and Anand were brought from Shimoga jail where they had been lodged. They have again been sent to the same jail till August 12.
Harindra and Balachandra, brothers of Hariprasad and Yogish who were arrested for destroying evidence, were sent to Hiradka jail till August 12.
A medical student from Kerala studying in Manipal University was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by three men in an auto rickshaw on the night of June 20. The police arrested Yogish, Hariprasad and Anand after a week’s hunt, and just before their arrest, Yogish and Anand attempted suicide and were admitted to hospital. The girl was discharged from hospital on July 4 and she has returned to Kerala.
The DNA report will be expected within a month which is necessary for the further investigation on the case.
