Mangalore, August 1: ‘Milk distribution is most ambitious programme of present government, creamed- cream less milk powder also will be given to students. This programme organised to remove the malnutrition problem’, said Mangalore In charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai.
He was speaking after inaugurating the programme jointly organised by District administration and Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Akshara Dasoha, Women and Child development department and Dakshina kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Unit at government high school, near Gandhi Nagara. Meanwhile, he distributed the milk to students.
‘During the tenure of Indira Gandhi, Bala Vikasa project was organised and it was aimed to develop the children and also it helped to decrease the malnutrition problem. Anganavadi’s are nutritious food distributing places and here, importance gives not only to children, but also to pregnant. To control the problem of infant mortality and maternal mortality, shishu Janana suraksha programme is implemented and it will be successful’, he said.
‘Rich family children will get nutritious food in their house itself, hence poor family won’t get, where it cause to backward in the education. To attract the students and to develop them, milk distribution programme implemented and it will help the milk producers, he said.
In the introductory speech Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers Unit Managing Director B. V Satyanarayan said that Gujarath stands first in the milk production and Karnataka is in the second place. To increase the production, encouragement price increased from Rs 2 to Rs 4. Government has implemented this project to give the importance to the health of the children.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, School head teacher Nethravathi, D.K milk production unit managing president Raviraj Hegde, Animal Husbandry director Halagappa, Local corporate Jayanthi, Radhakrishna were present among others.
