Manipal;August 07: Addressing the gathering in the forest department’s review meeting held at Manipal DC office Sankeerna Auditorium, on August 06,Tuesday,Ramanatha Rai,minister for forest, ecology and environment and district in-charge said in his address that though it is necessary to have tough law for the protection of forest but from welfare point of the people and their convenience, action on identification of the border and appointment of the settlement surveyor will be taken on stipulated time,he said.
He also further said that in view of taking major decisions in connection with dream forest and forest department a sub -committee in the cabinet was formed and a meeting will be convened comprising of revenue officials and authorities from forest department soon. Major decisions will be taken by the authorities concerned after visiting the places and most of the solutions for their problems will be available then and there itself, he said.
It was brought to the knowledge of Dr M T Reju, DC about the issuance of ownership letters in Udipi and construction of houses for homeless after getting NOC from forest department.Dr Reju said in his address that during the time of natural calamities, forest department should be provided with required instruments/tools for cutting the trees and to provide relevant compensations.Dr Reju also mentioned about the problems of Baikadi Vaaramballi.
He also said that while taking any major decisions with regard to forest department only after studying the acts thoroughly such as forest act, central act and Supreme Court act, decision has to be taken to avoid any future embarrassments. Soon a meeting will be held comprising of forest department authorities in state level, he promised
Discussion on the construction of parks, Varahi project similar to Manipal Cubban Park was also held. Besides suggestion has been presented in front of the honorable minister with regard to organizing eco-tourism by DC.
