Udipi; August 13: Addressing the taluk level conference on August 13, Tuesday, held at Bannanje Narayan guru auditorium to draw the attention of state government in implementing various demands of labours, Prasanna Kumar, chief state secretary of CITU said in his speech that all the families should be given 35 Kgs of food grains at the rate of Rs 1 per kg and same type of card must be provided to all the labourers including those who are not coming under the category of other unions.
Welcoming the decision of Chief Minister Siddaramaih, who completes three months in the office, to provide rice at the rate of Rs 1 per KG, there are still many labourers like Beedi and Aksharadasoha workers, who are working for very less salary, have not been given BPL card though they are eligible for that card.
In order to receive a monthly pension of Rs 30, one has to spend Rs 60.He urged the government to fix a minimum pension of Rs 1000/-per month and minimum salary of Rs 10,000/per month to all the labourers to mitigate the current inflation.
In case, if government fails to implement all these demands, CITU has decided to stage a statewide protest on the basis of sate samithi’s call on September 20, he warned
