Mangalore, March 25: Billava Community a largely populated group of coastal region of Karnataka. Billavara Mahila Sangha, a sub unit of All India Billavara Union, Kudroli (Akhilabahrata Billavara Union) is gearing up for the Decennery celebration.
Billavara Mahila Sangha which was started way back in March,2003 has organized a mega Womens conference(Brahat Mahila Sammelan) on October,2004 within a year of its inception and discussed various issues pertaining to women and uphold the dignity of community women in the society.
Mahila Awareness Camps: Mahila Sangha has been organizing various camps and created awareness amongst women with regards to Law& order, Medical facility, Food processing, Environment protection, Gas usage, Self defense and Self employment awareness camps during past ten years.
‘Shree Guru Sauharda Sahakari Society’ has been established in 2004 in memory of historical importance achieved by Billava Mahila Sangha. Due to the co-operation of dedicated and honest staff and administrative acumanship society has been started reaping profit in a short span of time and within three years of its existence society has started paying dividend to the employees.
Shreemati Sumalata N Suvarna-President has expressed her happiness as many of the women are voluntarily becoming members of this Sangha. In connection with our Decennery function celebration Sangha has arranged ‘Vicharaghosti ‘on various issues related to women’s life in the society on 7th April at Damodar R Suvarna Auditorium of Narayana guru College,Kudroli,Manglore.
Simultaneously Billavara Mahila Sangha will celebrate Decennery function on 21March at Townhall.On this occasion a special edition of souvenir in reorganization of the contribution made in the field of lyric composition by our community women will be realeased.
She said in her speech said that Sangha will solicit whole hearted support from the members for the success of the Sangha’s celebraton ,which has been rendering yeoman service for the welfare of the society in general and women of the community.
Smt.Kamalananda Amin-Vice President,Smt.Sukhalakshi Y Suvarna-President,Smt.Revathi Ashok-Treasurer and Smt Shakilaraj-Secretary,Cultural were present in the meet.

Smt.Gunavathi Ramesh-Vice Principal Al Badriya College, Suratkal will talk on the subject”Employed Womens Question”.
