Karkala; August 29: Government has sanctioned Rs 22 lac for the construction of Mathavu Bridge in naxal affected Kabbinale region of Mudradi grama panchayat limit in Karkala taluk.
Eight years have been completed on July 28th, ever since naxals had been plotted a terrifying Mathavu bomb attack on police in the year 2005.Hitherto residents of the region were depending only on wooden bridge as connecting link to Mathavu.In naxal affected Mathavu of Kabbinale there are 10 families residing and they have been pressurizing the government to provide some of their basic demands.
Members of Mudradi gram panchayat, taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat and MLAs have been responding to the problems of naxal affected Malekudiya people. From Mudradi grama panchayat, solar lights have been provided.
Under Mahatma Gandhi national employment guarantee scheme, urgent works have been undertaken. Apart from road repair, personal benefits have also been provided. But Mathavu Bridge, which was in urgent need has not done so far and now since Rs 22 lac has been sanctioned for the construction of Mathavu Bridge, long standing dream of Malekudiya will be fulfilled.
