Bantwal,sep.13 : Congress supported candidate Ms.Vasanthi Chandappa was elected as president and Yasmin as vicepresident in the Bantwal Municipality election held on Thursday.
The Presidents post was reserved for SC women. Ms. Vasanthi was only one candidate from congress, so effortlessly she become the first councilor from Scheduled Caste. From the general class four candidates are interested for the post of vice president. From Congress party Yasmin stood for the post and Mumthaz from SDPI gave nomination. But finally Mumthaz withdrew and Yasmin became the vice president. Block tahashildar Malleswami participated as the electoral officer.
District incharge Minister B. Ramanath Rai also was present in the election and congratulated the candidates. In that occasion he said that elected candidates should make use of the fund for the development. Other members from parties were present in the occasion.
