Mangalore, Sep 21: Kerala Samajam organized the colourful celebration of Onam fest at TMA Pai conventional Hall which was was inaugurated by minister for forest, ecology and environment B Ramanath Rai on Saturday September 21.
Addressing the gathering Ramanath Rai said that “Kerala and Karnataka state has friendly relationship. There is a similarity between Kerala and Karnataka in culture, tradition, religious programmes, food and all other things.
Urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said Onam is a festival where people of different languages, religions, states, and countries come together and celebrate. In terms of discipline, environment, resources, education, sports and others, Kearal is a role model to other states,” he said.
“Coastal parts of Karnataka’s religious practices, cultures, celebrations and gods are similar to those of Kerala. I am proud to be part of the celebration minister Sorake added.
Prior to the formal stage programme, various entertainment programmes, chende vadana and pookkalam’ (flower arrangement) competitions were held.
T K Ranjan, president of Kerala Samajam, secretary V S Ajith Kumar, joint secretary M V Tajan, advisor Govinda Kutti among others were present.
