The sounds of Chende (a kind of drum) tabor (maddale) and cymbals in one side, the beautiful way of enactment of dances and expression (Naatyabhinaya), which can, even beat the dance of dance queen Sharade and above all, the way of their battle of words (Sambhashane) in the first ever meeting of Thenku-Badagu Thittu artists have created a world of Yakshaloka Zalak in Ajekar.
No other play or drama, which can entertain, enchant and enthrall the people continuously for nine hours than Yakshaloka (Yakshagana). But on September 29, Sunday, with the meeting of articulate,aristrocratic artists from Thenku-Badagu Thittu created an atmosphere of Yakshaloka on scintillating stage and enthralled and entertained more than two thousand spectators continuously for nine hours with their sparkling performances in the first ever meeting of ‘Thenku-Badagu’Thittu event organized by Yennehole and Ajekar for the benefit of art lovers of this region in Ajekaru subavi late Koraga shetty vedhike
On the other hand competition of famous Bhagavathas (Play back singer) from both sides,Jugalbandhi of Chende-Maddale,hilarious comedies/jokes of famous Padmanabha Shettigar and Seethram Kumar,Kateel, an excellent Sthreevesha(Ladies role) of Thenku Thittu’s prime sthree veshadari Hiliyana Santhosh and Badagu Thittu’s Hakladi Ravindra etc have enthralled and lured the hearts and minds of the crowd.
One hour exhibition of Thenku Thittu’s Shree Devi Mahatme and Gadayudda and Badagu Thittu’s Shreenivasa Kalyana and Chakravyuha, through the performance of this historical play made the viewers spell bound and has given the spectators a taste, treat of poetic sentiments. They also organized a play Kurukshetra from Mahabharata in the combination of ‘Thenku-Badagu ‘Thittu’ artists.
The notion of the people that Yakshagana is losing it prominence has been proved wrong here, otherwise it has its own prominence, charm and attraction in its place. Only the numbers of viewers are becoming less due to work pressure. If the Yakshagana has been brought under the ambit of time management, Yakshagana has its own charm and attraction.
