Udupi; Oct 02: After inaugurating the ‘Gandhi Jayanti ‘celebration organized jointly by district administration and city corporation near the Gandhi’s statue at Ajjarekadu on Oct 02, Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district in charge said in his address that the great leader Gandhi was the man, who proclaimed the message of truth, peace and non-violence to the world. On the basis of these principles UNO is trying to establish peace.
By giving more prominence to equality, he had tried to eradicate untouchability.We need to try to see smile on the face of poor and temple exist in the heart of poor. He is the man, who still remains immortal in the hearts of many for many centuries. If we utilize ourselves in the liberation of social obstacles, that itself is the greatest respect offering to the soul of Gandhi, he said.

Near Malpe beach also Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated near the statue of Gandhi.
