Mangalore, Oct 7: The Wild Life Protection Act was made in 1972 but it doesn’t come into exist properly. So that many animals died by various reasons. To protect the wild life we should spread awareness to the people said Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment B. Ramanath Rai.
Rai inaugurated the cultural activities of and competitions including essay, collage, drawing, fancy dress, quiz to mark the Wildlife Week 2013 celebration at the Shivaram Karanth Biological Park at Pilikula on Sunday Oct 6.
.Mangalore City South MLA J R Lobo regretted that despite being on the coast the district does not have an aquarium. It should be made in three years with a fund of Rs 9 crore, he said.
Youth and fisheries minister Abhaychandra Jain Presided over the function. The director of biological park H.J Bhandary, Moiddin Bava, Yashvanti Alva, Harish Kumar, Shambavi, S.Krishna Murty were present.
