Mangalore, Oct. 17: The government is planning to introduce a housing policy for the economically backward people, said housing minister M.H. Ambareesh.
He addressed the media after the review meeting on the housing schemes organised at DC office here on Thursday, October 17.
Ambareesh said that new housing policy will be implemented with the partnership of public and private firms. The scheme was discussed in the cabinet meeting and received the permission. The formulation work is in progress and within two months the policy will be implemented.
“The government is aimed to construct around 8 lac houses for the beneficiaries within the end of 2015. Rs 5,000 crore of budget is expected for the project,” he added.
MLAs Vasanth Bangera, Moideen Bava, D.C, N.Prakash, Additional DC Dayanand, President of Zilla Panchayat Koragappa Naik, Chief Secretary of Housing Department, Raman Reddy, Managing Director of Rajiv Gandhi Housing Department, Jagadish, Dr. Ravishankar, Housing Authority Commissioner, Tulasi Maddineni, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, and others were present.
