Increase Health awareness in rural areas: U.T. Khader

Mangalore, Oct. 28:“Effort should be intensified to increase health awareness in rural areas,” said U.T. Khader, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare.

He  participated in the inauguration of Free Health Check-up Camp held under the auspices of Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu in Mijar, Mangalore on Sunday, 27th October.

“Health camps like these go a long way in promoting public health,” he said, adding that he was aware that there is a demand for setting up a government hospital in Yedapadav region and the same was under the government’s consideration.

The minister lauded the efforts of Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple under the leadership of the temple co-ordinator Vijaynath Shetty for the overall development of this rural region.

The Free Health Check-up Camp was organized in association with Nitte University’s K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, Derlakatte, Mangalore; A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Derlakatte, Mangalore and Sevanjali Trust (R), Farangipet between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the same day.

About 400 people benefitted from the camp which included heart, eye, dental and general health check-up by the institution’s highly experienced specialist doctors. Those who required further treatment were referred to the base hospital where specialized treatment will be provided to them at subsidized rates through issue of health card. Free Surgery will also be provided for ophthalmic, dental and obstetric cases as also for cleft lip & palate and correction of maxillofacial deformities.

Temple co-ordinator Vijaynath Shetty, Krishna Kumar Poonja of Sevanjali Trust (R), Farangipet, R.K. Prithviraj, President, Gurupur Block Congress and Premalatha Shetty, Ramesh Shetty and Kanthappa Shetty of the temple managing committee were present on the occasion.
