Mangalore, Nov 13: In the bid of robbing the ornaments of elderly woman, she fell down and died of head injury. The incident took place at Shakthinagar on Tuesday Nov. 12.
The deceased has been identified as Bhavani (70), a resrdent of Shaktinagar who was working in a local cashew processing unit.
On Tuesday while Bhavani return home after finishing her work the incident took place. The family members initiated a search and finally found her in lifeless state nearby.
She was rushed to the hospital and given treatment but she did not respond to it, said police sources.
The dead body of Bhavani has bleeding earlobes and her ear studs are missing, suggesting that she met her end while protecting herself from thieves who stole away her ornaments.
In the bid, she must have been pushed by the thieves, due to which she fell on the floor, got injured on the head and died.
A case has been registered with Mangalore urban police station.
