Mangalore, Nov 16: Akash Shetty of St Aloysius College has won this year’s Doodle4Google contest in the Google Doodle for Class VII-X category for his doodle on ‘Indian women leading the country’.
Akash Shetty, a class X student of St Aloysius High School in Mangalore, grabbed the top spot in the third category, meant for students from classes VIII to X. It was the second title for Mangalore in the contest’s history.
Shetty was trained by artist John Chandran. He is also a recipient of the State government’s Kalashree award.Santhosh Lobo, a computer teacher at St Aloysius, praised the winner’s capability to capture subjects with clarity.
Meanwhile, the award winning doodle titled ‘Sky’s The Limit for Indian Women’ by Gayatri Ketharaman from Bishop’s Co-Ed School, Pune will go live on the Google (India) homepage on November 14, Children’s Day and reflect the artistic merit, creativity, and expression of the theme.
In Category 1 (Class I- III), Madhuram Vatsal from St. Francis’s College, Lucknow was the winner with the D4G titled ‘Celebrating Indian Women’ and in Category 2 (ClassIV-VI) Binita Biswajeeta, from D.A.V Public School, Balasore, Odissa was the winner with D4G titled ‘ Women Are Future’.
All the finalists will receive a Google Goodie bag and an Acer C720 Chromebook.
