Customs officials at Mangalore Airport seized gold worth Rs. 16 lac

Mangalore, Dec 6: Mangalore airport customs officials arrested a Kasargod-bound passenger for trying to smuggle in half kg gold mixed with coffee powder On Thursday December 5.

The passenger is identified as Mohammed Ashraf, who came from Dubai.

The estimated value of the gold is Rs 16 lac. Customs officials later produced the accused in the court.

The accused had a two coffee tin with him, when the custom officer see that they found the coffee tin is weighing more than the actual weight. Growing

Suspicious  they did further investigation and then they found there is gold mixed with coffee powder.

Concealing gold in coffee packets was the latest among tactics used for smuggling gold.
