Mangalore, Dec.6: 33years old and the only one working men hostel St. Christopher Hostel, Rosario Mangalore celebrated its hostel day here with the 50 inmates in the hostel.
The hostel was started in 1981 as a dream of late Fr. Fred V. Pereira for rickshaw drivers who work as drivers in the daytime and no residence in Mangalore. The common space and partition rooms are the major occupancy space inside the hostel for a very less payments.
Every year the practice is to celebrate the hostel day early December jointly by executive committee and inmates.
On 5th December Thursday, the day was celebrated and the guest of the occasion is Advocate and Notary Stany R. D’costa.
Speaking on the occasion he said ‘In every profession a good relation with the customer is very important. A driver has to make the way with a smile. Mangalore is full of temper less drivers who blow horns un necessarily and make sound pollution. It is better we drivers start and let it be practice by others.’
As an ushering of the occasion joint secretary Leena Dsouza conducted some games to the inmates and members and chief guest distributed the prizes.
One of the inmates Praveen Lobo honored by Raymond D’cunha, the present president of St.Christopher Association for his best behavior in the hostel last year.
Honorary president Mr. Susheel Noronha gave gifts to the hostel staffs and said it is a family relation where every year celebrate hostel day and reconfirm between hostelite and executive committee.
President Raymond Dcunha welcomed secretary Herald D’souza read the reports and proposed vote of thanks. Joint secretary Denis D’souza compered. Vice president Fracis D’souse were present.
