Mangalore, Dec. 6: Demanding to extension of Employees State Insurance facility to all villages of the district and thereby ensures health security to the workers and their families the Akhila Bharatha Karmika Sangha staged a protest in front of DC office on Friday, December 6.
Addressing the protestors, Sudatta Jain, trade union leader demanded that the wages provided to the Gram Panchayat members of the district be increased to Rs 6000.
He also urged the authorities to put an end to corruption at the Panchayat level.
The Karmika Sangha will board a Padayatra from near the DC office in Mangalore to the Karmikara Bhavan in Bangalore on May Day to protest against the ESIC which has failed to provide health security to the workers and also to oppose the government’s apathy towards the demands of the working class.
Labour leader Vishnumurthy Bhat, Dhalit leader Ashok Konchady and others were took part in the protest.
