Mangalore, Dec 10: The Department of Botany and Biotechnology of St Aloysius College organized a two day UGC and DBT sponsored national seminar on “Trends in environmental biotechnology and its application” at Eric Mathias hall of the college on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Dr TV Ramachandran, Senior scientific officer IISC, Bangalore was the chief guest. In his speech he spoke on the importance of preserving the environment and the role of bio technology in effective waste management.
He further said that he had an opportunity to work Western Ghats. Even students should go to the forest for a couple of days and explore nature.
Dr TV Ramachandran also released “The book of abstract” authored by Dr Shashi Kiran and Aleefa.
Rev Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, the rector and Rev Fr Swebert D’silva SJ, the college principal presided over the programme.
Dr. A M Narahari, Registrar, SAC was the guest of honour.
Rev Fr. Leo D’Souza the convener of the programme welcomed. Dr. Asha Abraham HOD of Biotechnology introduced the chief guest. Prof. M.L. Sureshnath organizing secretary proposed vote of thanks.
