Karkala; Dec 14: An incident of brutal assault on student by the owner of the Karkala Shrinivas Sweets bakery was occurred on Dec 13, Friday noon. Instantly the parents and general public, who got up from their slumber and taken Shreenivas,the owner of the bakery to task.In between, the student ,who drank the cool drink, paid the money and kept the empty bottle near the side of the bakery in hurry, which owner did not notice and unexpectedly started attacking the student. The parents alleged that in order to escape from this incident owner of the bakery said that he has attacked the student for not paying the money but parents of the victim of the attack insisted for the immediate apology from the bakery owner.
Karthik Nayak, son of Karkala taluk’s Muniyalu Ganesh Nayak was the victim of the attack. He was the 8th standard student of city’s Bhuvanendra High school and participated in the Yoga display organized in Swaraj Maidan.As he was thirsty while he was returning to school, he went to nearby Shenoy Sweet Bakery situated in front of Karkala’s CMC office, drank one cool drink and went away without paying money, owner of the bakery alleged.
Enraged Shrinivas Shenoy, the owner of the bakery caught hold of the student and slapped him brutally without any mercy on the public road in front of the public and then complained to the police. Then he threatened the student with dire consequences and told him that I will see that you will be dismissed from the school. Feared student informed the family members about the incident.
Immediately a group of people along with the parents of the student came from Muniyalu, condemning the attack for trivial reason, taken Shrinivas Shenoy to task. Alleging the owner of the bakery, in order to escape from this incident, owner was saying that since the student has not paid the money and took the empty bottle, I had to resort for an attack, he said.
At one point of time, angry parents of the student tried to attack the owner of the bakery but public prevented them from doing so. In the wake of persistent demand from the parents of the student for immediate apology, after realizing the situation, bakery owner went to the school and apologized.
In connection with the incident, headmaster of the high school Sridhar Acharya by convincing and compromising both the party pulled the curtain on dispute.
