Mangalore, Dec 23, 2013: Delivering the Christmas message to the media at Bishop House on Dec 23, Monday Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that ‘A Church must be poor and for the poor’.
He also said that the Diocese has also taken up various activities and projects in this direction to eradicate poverty from our society. It will firmly assert and continue all those projects and programmes, he added.
Bishop said that Christians have a special mission and responsibility to eradicate poverty; hence Christians must join hands with people of other religions to wipe out poverty prevailing in the society. Every person, especially the poor of the society deserves respect and dignity.
Bishop said that Christmas celebration gets completed when one renders love towards the poor; hence they must be treated with equality and must not discriminate them.
