Karkala: Andaru rural post office all set to celebrate golden jubilee celebration

Karkala; Dec 25: Andaru post office, near Ajekar has completed its 50 years of existence and is all set to celebrate golden jubilee celebration. It was functioning by the name ‘Chowki’ covering Andaru-Shirlalu villages in the beginning. It was separately established in 1964, Feb 27 for Andaru village.

In the beginning, it was functioning in one of the houses for about six months. Thereafter it was functioning in Mulladka’s Thimmappa Servegar’s house for several years.

On November 29, 2009, building of its own was built jointly by Andaru Spoorthi Yuvaka Mandala and locals. The post office, which possesses well- equipped building of its own, is on the verge of celebrating golden jubilee celebration. In commemoration of the occasion, golden jubilee celebration will be celebrated on Jan 04, 2014.

The celebration will be organized by group of well wishers and fans of post office, locals, sponsors and in co-ordination with organizations and institutions. Presently in Andaru post office, Ashok.T.Kumar working as school post caretaker and Ashok Shettigar as post- man, performing their duties.

Honorable president : Andar Mahaveer Hegde,President: Suresh Marathe,vice president: Prakash.G.Nayak,Krishna Shetty,Narayana Shettigar,honorary advisors:A.K.Ananda Shettigar,Ramachandra Servegar,secretary:Seetharam Nayak, Joint secretary:Ravindra.P,treasurer:Gireesh Kamath are all members of managing committee.
