Mangalore, Dec 31: Abhaychandra Jain, Minister for fisheries, youth affairs and sports said that the congress government has proposed many schemes while presenting the budget and all are used for good cause.
Addressing the reporters at ‘Meet the Press’ organized by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union at Press Club on Dec 31, Tuesday, he said that the sports department is using the reserved fund for laying synthetic tracks all over the state and Karnataka has the highest synthetic track in the country.
Jain also said that he never thought that he will get the post of youth affairs minister, but has received with joy and responsibility.
He also said that with an aim to establish of a velodrome, a stadium for track cycling at Bijapur, the Government has sanctioned the amount Rs 5 crore, but since the fund released was not enough, the CM assured to release additional Rs 2 crore for the project.
The department will also build a stadium in Udupi district and also establish youth empowerment centre and indoor stadiums at Alva’s College campus at the cost of Rs 15 crore.
The gym at Mangala stadium has been renovated so to support the athletes and take training. He has also held a talk with CM regarding to CM to establish an international cricket stadium in Mangalore.
Commenting on the Mulky incident, Jain said that on the request of people, he had started a road repair work, but when the auto drivers surrounded and started shouting slogans, I went to argue, but did not hit anyone as the rumors spread by
