Mangalore, Jan 13: District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated DK District level Karavali Utsav exhibition at the Karavali Utsav grounds on January 12, Sunday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Rai said that in spite of being a Government festival, Karavali Utsav has become more of common man festival. The utsav has been organized with an aim to highlight the glory of the coastal district through its culture, tradition and art.
Writer and thinker Fr Prashanth Madta inaugurated the Karavali Utsav cultural events. He said that the languages itself focuses the rich culture of Mangalore, where it has different names in nine languages.
The entrance of the Karavali Utsav exhibition resembles the Guttu House, which shows the culture of city.
MLA Moidin Bava, presided over the event.
Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Assistant Commissioner Dr Prashanth, Tahsildar Mohan Rao, Additional DC Dayanand K, MLA JR Lobo, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
The exhibition comprises of 32 pavilion stalls, 40 small stalls, 10 special outlets displaying a variety of handlooms, household and other products. Amusement show Octopus, Columbus and Dragon train and others will entertain kids as well as youths.
