Moodbidri; Feb 05: The road, which is connecting Irvathur from Belvai Thirgas, is lying completely deteriorated for the several years without repairing resulting people in the surrounding region and vehicle owners have to face lot of problems.
From Belvai market in Belvai village panchayat’s jurisdiction on the way to Dharegudde, in between there is a thirgas connecting road. In this region there are 150 families are dwelling. From Thirgas road, in 1.5 kilo meter distance, complete tar has gone. As a result of this, there is boundless dangerous ponds are being observed on the road. Not only car, rickshaw drivers even drivers of two wheelers facing too much of hardships due to these ponds.
Since some temporary alternatives have been done in one private place adjacent to the road, problem of traffic has been eased to some extent. Since most of the people are poor in this region, they have to rely only on rickshaws for their journey. But because of the worsening condition of the road, even rickshaw drivers reluctant to come on this road on hire. There was one bus service in the past but as the road has deteriorated, even that service has also been stopped.
This road was repaired 30 years ago but after that it has not been repaired. Though locals have submitted memorandum to Panchayat and concerned authorities several times in the past in this regard but it remained as a futile attempt and a cry in the wilderness but road has not been repaired. According to Suresh Naikee, who has been living in that region for the last 16 years, the road was not repaired since then, he said. Other than patch works, done before 12 years, no other repairing works have been carried out, he said.
The concerned authorities should take an initiative for repairing this unfit and completely ruined road, it said
