Mangalore, Mar 2: M Janaki Brahmavar takes charge as a president of new Tulu Chavadi Academy at Tulu Chavadi hall on March 1, Saturday.
Janaki took charge of the post in the presence of Umanth A Kotiyan , Dr Vaman Nandavar, Seetharam Kulal.
As a retired lecturer at St. Mary Syrian Pre-University College, Brahmavar, Janaki has served as the first woman president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and in 1994-95.
She has also authored two tulu plays Amar Baiderl and Tulunada Bollilu, which was later staged by theatre troupes Sumanasa Kodavuru and Karavali Kalavider.
Chandras B Rai, Ganesh Amin Sankamar, Jaganatha Shetty Bala, Belare Vasanth Shetty and Kishore D Shetty were present.
