Movement against Yettinahole project will continue till abandoned: Vijaykumar Shetty

Mangalore, Mar 4: former Congress MLA Vijaykumar Shetty said that the bandh declared by Karavali Jeevanadi Nethravati Samrakshana Samiti in the district was a huge success, further too the people of district must render their support for many such movement to be organized against the Yettinahole project proposed by the state government.

Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Mar 4, Tuesday, he said that the agitation raised against the project has grown into a people’s movement.

He also said that it is the duty of people of DK to keep alive the movement until the Government of Karnataka withdraws the project. He urged the like-minded organizations including religious leaders to carry forward the movement by opposing Nethravati project through public announcements daily.

He criticized chief minister of Karnataka for providing false information about the project during its foundation-laying ceremony in Chikkaballapur district on March 3 and said that state government will surely fail to complete implementation of the proposed project in ten years.

Activist M G Hegde said that health minister and local MLA UT Khader is trying to sail in two boats at the same time. Detailed project report (DPR) prepared by the government on the Yettinahole project was a bogus one. He must resign from his post as the district in-charge minister for Kolar.
