Mangalore Mar 7: The arrival of Siberian cranes at Dr Shivarama Karanth Biological Park, Pilikula Nisargadhama have added extra beauty.

According to the officials, there are about 40 species and there will be an addition of another 40 to the existing which have been transferred from the Nehru Geological Park, Hyderabad.

Around 60 species of birds housed in the 55 feet high meshed aviary include grey jungle fowl, great Indian hornbill, Malabar pied hornbill, hill myna, cattle egret, greater flamingo, magpie robin, grey pelican, painted stork. In addition, there is pond heron, weaver bird, Muscovy duck, black ibis, adjutant stork, Alexandrine parakeet and little cormorant, transforming the park into a ‘birdie world’.
