Mangalore, Mar 8: Around 70 students of the Kinya Belaringe Higher Primary School near Mudipu fell sick after consuming mid-day meal at school provided under the Akshara Dasoha scheme of the state government on March 7, Friday.
All the students began vomiting and complained of giddiness and later were admitted to the K.S. Hegde hospital, Deralakatte for the treatment. Around eight students were treated at the ICU since they vomiting continuously and all of them recovered by evening and were discharged.
Taluk Medical Officer Dr Ratnakar said that the rice and sambar samples have been taken for lab test.
According to school headmistress Rekha, the rice was taken from a new sack and was fresh.
Ullal police visited the hospital.
