Father Muller Institutions distributes graduation certificate to 628 medicos and nurses

Mangalore, Mar 14: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) holds the Institutions’ Day cum Graduation Ceremony-2014 at the Father Muller Stadium on March 13, Thursday.

A total of 628 graduates from various branches of medical education including 266 from Father Muller Medical College, 81 from Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, 178 from Father Muller Medical College of Nursing, 85 from Father Muller School of Nursing, and 18 from Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing awarded graduation certificates and administered the oath.

Participating as the chief guests, Dr V M Katoch, secretary, department of health research, government of India, and director general, Indian Council of Medical Research said that ‘The medical profession is different compared to the other professions which also serve people. The medical profession needs to emphasize on commitment to society.

The medical profession is not meant for making wealth or money, but must focus on becoming good human beings. Our goals may be anything but our service should be unquestionable. The medical professionals should concentrate on their responsibility in the era of commercialization, he said.

Delivering the presidential address, Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that People will recognize the students of Father Muller when they grow into caring, loving, and helpful doctors.

He also said that the management and faculty of Father Muller Institutions have strived very hard to make all of you a better doctor and a better person in life.

Dr Anil K D’Cruz, director, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, was the guest of honour.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues welcomed the guests and gathering and read out the reports of the academic year. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa proposed the vote of thanks. Entertainment programme by the students of the institution followed the formal ceremony.

College director Fr Patrick Rodrigues, administrators Fr Ravi Rudoplh D’Sa and Fr Richard Coelho, assistant administrators Fr Vincent Saldanha and Fr Roshan Crasta, Dean Dr J P Alva, Principals Dr Shivaprasad K, Sr Winifred D’Souza, Jasmine Vas, Akhilesh P M and others were present.
