Kasargod, Mar 26: Vidyanagar Police have arrested three persons on the charges of trying to blackmail an NRI after forcing him to pose in nude with a young woman.
The arrested have been identified as Misbah (25) of Vidyanagar, NA Shameer (31) of Muttathodi and KN Riyaz(34) of Kasargod. Fifteen others have also been booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by a youth from Panala in Chengala.
The incident is learnt to have taken place when the NRI youth and his friend had rented a room in a hotel. Sources say they were approached by a ten member gang. The gang demanded Rs 10 lakhs from the duo which the latter said they were unable to pay. The gang later forcibly removed the NRI youth’s clothes and forced him to pose for photos with the woman. They then threatened to make the photos public if their demand was not fulfilled. It is learnt that they later demanded Rs 3 lakhs.
The gang let them go when the NRI and his friend promised to borrow from friendsand pay. But the two mustered courage to complain to the police and as per the directions of the police the operation was cunducted and they asked the gang to come to BC Road Vidyanagar to collect the money. As they arrived, police men in plain clothes arrested them. It is learnt, they had even stolen the cell phone and bike of the NRI youth.
