Mangalore, April 4: An incident of courage was displayed, as a six year old boy had saved the life of his four year old drowning cousin from a water tank located in an under construction site at Tokkottu on March 31, Monday.
It is learnt that brave boy Mohammad Afran (6), son of Mohammad Mustafa and Maimoona had rescued four year old cousin Ibrahim Mohammad Rafi, son of M Mohammad of KC Road, who were playing filled water tank.
The little Rafi who saw the water tank being filled from the tanker, waiting till it left the place and immediately went near the tank and bent to wash his feet and slipped into a 4.5 feet deep tank.
Noticing Rafi drawning, Afran cried for help and ran about 150 meter away and informed the elders at his house. As his parents rushed the spot, Rafi was floating in the tank in an unconscious state. After giving a first aid, they immediately took him to nearby Derlakatte Hospital for treatment. Rafi, who was placed in ICU for a day and has been cured and discharged on April 3, Thursday, unfortunately could not come out of shock.
Afran, is a first standard student of Hazrath Sayyed Madani Urdu Higher Primary School at Ullal Halekote and the school management appreciated his bravery.
