Mangalore, April 11:  Netravathi, the tigress of the wild life sanctuary of Vamanjoor, has given birth to two cubs. The sanctuary is located at Pilikula in the outskirts of the city.

Sources said that,  Pilikula had a 11 tiger of whom  ‘Krishna’ and ‘Shambhavi’ have been sent to the Surat Zoo. Yet another tiger ‘Kadamba’ has been sent to the Hyderabad zoo thus leaving only 9 tigers at Pilikula.

The tiger is the largest cat in the world, which can grow up to 2.5 meters in length. There are six different subspecies of tiger which are the Bengal tiger, the Indochinese tiger, the Malayan tiger, the Sumatran tiger, the Siberian tiger and the South China Tiger. The white tiger is actually a Bengal tiger and is therefore not a subspecies itself.
