Mangalore, April 17: Two persons were killed and other two were injured by a speeding sand laden tipper at Gurupur on April 16, Wednesday. Two persons including a two and a half year old girl child lost their lives.
The deceased are Harshitha (2) and Babu (18). The injured are Harshita’s mother Jaswinder (32) and father Deepak (40). The condition of the mother is said to be critical and father is said to be out of danger.
Deepak family was travelling in a bike and had stopped at Gurupur junction where an election duty bus was taking a reverse, also a Bolero was waiting for the bus to clear the road. Babu was a pedestrian going on his way. At this time a speeding tipper rammed against the Bolero and the bike, this resulted with the death of Babu. Even Harshitha who was in the bike along with her mother was thrown off the vehicle and died on the spot.
Deepak, a police personnel on duty at the Mangalore Airport Circle had recently brought his family from Delhi and stayed in a rented house at Kenjar. His Pulsar bike had Uttarakhand registration.
It is learnt that the driver of the tipper tried to run away, but he was chased and caught at Vamanjoor.
Bajpe police have registered a case.
