Mangalore, Apr 23: CPI(M) staged a demonstration in front of the DC office in the city on April 22 Tuesday, condemning the killing of Kabeer from Jokatte by personnel of the Anti-Naxal Force near Shringeri check post.
The protestors who demanded a compensation of Rs 30 lakh to Kabeer family, also shouted slogans against the ANF demanding stern action against those responsible for the killing and to entrust the case to the CBI.
KR Sriyan, State CPI(M) Secretariat Board Member has said that only illegal cattle transportation was an offence and not cattle transportation by itself. There is a need to sensitise people in this regard, he added.
Speaking on the issue, Vasanth Achari, CPI(M) State Committee Member, said that the Congress was not ensuring justice to the Muslim community who have been supporting the party since long for the sole reason that the party was secular.
J Balakrishna Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Muneer Katipalla, BK Imtiyaz, CPI(M) leaders, Corporator Dayanand Shetty, former corporator Jayanthi Shetty and others participated in the protest.
