Mangalore, May 9: DK district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that Bunt community has been the reason for maintaining social harmony in the district. Through the Bunt Community, the minority community finds support for themselves.
He was speaking at the World Bunts Convention organized as a part of centenary fete of Buntara yane Nadavara Mathru Sangha at the AB Shetty grounds on May 9, Friday.
Rai also said that at present Bunt community is enjoying the high ranking status, but with was provided to them and not earned by the members. There are many people in the community who do not enjoy the same social and economic status, hence it is the duty of Bunt achievers to work for the betterment of lower people of the community.
He also said that the community in the society must not be recognized due to the economic status of community members, but due to their behaviour and conduct.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the Bunt community has many achievements in its credits. The members of the community have reached to the greater height, through the education system.
Bunts Sangha President Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi presided over the programme.
Eminent Bunt community members Vinay Hegde, A J Shetty, C A Shankar Shetty, Dr K R Shetty, MLA Shakuntala Shetty and several others were present on the occasion.
Apart from them, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, SP Dr Sharanappa, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, RTO Afzal Ahmed Khan, MLA JR Lobo, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva, UAE Karnataka Sangha and Bunts Sangha president Sarvottam Shetty, UAE Exchange CEO Sudhir Shetty and AJ Group of Institutions chairman AJ Shetty and others were also present on the occasion.
