Mangalore, May 28: A protest against the arrest of three Muslim youth in the Rajesh Poojary murder case was taken out by the District unit of the DYFI on May 27, Tuesday. A protest rally from Ambedkar Circle to the DC office was held in the city.
Rajesh Poojary, an auto rickshaw driver and Bhajrangdal activist at Bantwal was murdered a couple of months ago. The agitators urged the authorities to release the ‘innocent’ youth and also demanded a fresh probe into the case.
District President of the DYFI, Muneer Katipalla, accused the cops of fixing innocents in the case. He said the three arrested youth namely Irshad, Hussain and Imran were the bread winners of their families and therefore should be released.
“District Minister Ramanatha Rai had assured to look into the case, but no progress has come out,” Muneer said. The DYFI has also warned of severe protests if the youth were not released.
Dayananda Shetty, District Secretary of DYFI, mothers of the three arrested namely Shaheen, Khatoon and Nebisa and others participated in the protest.
