Mangalore, Jun 2: Two persons were injured when a two-wheeler was hit by an Omni that was reportedly being used to illegally transport a cow. The incident occurred at Majalthota, Munnur in Ullal near here on Sunday June 2.
As people gathered at the accident spot, the driver of the Omni Abdul Khader escaped leaving the vehicle behind. The cow was being taken to a slaughter house at Chembugudde, said eyewitnesses.
Gattikudru resident Rolan who was riding the two-wheeler, and his wife Sunita who was riding pillion, were injured in the accident and are admitted to a hospital in Thokkottu.
The brand new Omni that was yet to get registration number, was being used to transport a cow reportedly stolen from Fajir Govanitashraya. On the way to Thokkottu, the driver lost control and rammed into Rolan and Sunita who were riding from Kuthar to Eliyarpavau.
The Ullal police arrived at the spot and took the Omni and the animal into their possession.
Officials from Fajir Govanitashraya Trust also came to the spot and said that the theft had taken place when the cattle at Govanitashraya were left to graze.
A complaint was filed in this regard in Ullal police station.
