Mangalore, June 13: A huge protest was taken out by women beedi workers to protest against the managements which have not disbursed their Dearness Allowance since the past two months.
The protest was organized under the aegis of the AITUC in the city on June 13, Friday.
The Beedi workers who came together near the Kankanady-Bendorewell Circle expressed their anguish against the Labour Department which has failed to act against the beedi companies. If the Department continues to maintain silence, then the organisation will have to resort to severe protest, they warned.
Hundreds of beedi workers participated in the protest.
