Byndoor, Jul 12: Decomposed body of missing student Rathna Kothari was found in a isolated place near Thoodalli near Alandoor Byndoor in Udupi district on Saturday morning.
Rathna Kothari, daughter of Shankar Kothari and a student of Shirooru Government PU College went missing since July 9 after she left for college. Her classmates and teachers said that she attended the class on July 9. Some of the residents of Sawantagudde had seen her while she was going home. A missing complaint was registered subsequently.
On Saturday morning, a woman who was passing by saw the body and informed others.
Byndoor police immediately rushed to the spot and suspected it to be a case of ‘rape and murder.’ However, a post-mortem report will confirm whether the girl was sexually abused before she was killed.
Udupi SP Dr. Boralingaiah and Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary arrived at the spot.
