Mangalore, July 26: Kargil Vijay Diwas was organised at Lions Seva Mandir here on July 26, Saturday under the joint aegis of the DK District Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Lions Club and Centre for Integrated Learning. The brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation during the Kargil war were remembered and felicitated.
A workshop on ‘Patriotism and National Pride’ was organised to mark the occasion. Several retired army men spoke about their experiences as well as the hard efforts put in by the Indian Army in winning the Kargil war. The students seemed to be in full ‘josh’ after attending the workshop.
Sharing her experience with Kannadigaworld, Shweta Rao, a student studying in a private collage said that the programme was an eye opener to her. “My respect for our country and its soldiers has definitely increased. After attending this event, I really feel a need to do something to our country. At least one person from each family should join Indian army,” she said.
Air vice Marshall K. Ramesh Karnik, Harish kumar, Badhraiah and Bhagwan Shetty were felicitated for their bravery and service on this occasion.
Tulasi Maddineni, ZP CEO, HS Manjunath, District Governor of Lions Club, Col. N.S. Bhandary, President of DK District Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Sachitha Nandagopal of CIL and others were present.
