Mangalore, August 08th: The coastal areas have received heavy downpour since a week, which has continued even on Friday. Various places of the district have received a good rain this year. The rain is said to continue even at Kasargod and Kodagu districts.
Mangalore has received a good rainfall where as it is reported to be less in Puttur. A incessant downpour has been reported from Moodbidri since Wednesday night and has continued till Friday morning. Later it is said to rain with gaps in between. There were heavy showers even at Sullia and the Junior college was declared leave on Thursday.
Hosamata Bridge cleared:
Rain has deteriorated at Kadaba and the Hosamata bridge has cleared. Suratkal, Kinnigoli and Mulki too has received good rainfall. Ullal, Bantwal and Belthangady have received moderate rainfall. Udupi,Kundapur and Karkala taluks have received moderate showers till noon and has recorded a good rainfall post noon. Kollur has recorded incessant showers since two three days disturbing the normal life of people.
Subramanya has received a heavy downpour and the Kumardhara Bridge had submerged under the water from 7.30am to 2.45pm.Vitla has also received a heavy rain. It has rained at Bajpe even and the Maravur dam is overflowing.
On Wednesday and Thursday night it is reported to have rained along with high winds at Mangalore. Last night it had rained at Puttur, Suratkal, Bantwal, Subramanya, Vitla, Belthangady along with other areas and at various places of Udupi district.
On Thursday morning at 5.30am, a huge tree had fallen down close to Ulaibettu, kethikal of vamanjoor which was cleared in the morning.
Good rains are expected for the coming five days…
The states Weather Forecast Department has announced that, there might be a chance of receiving a good rainfall along with strong breeze from the seacoast for the coming five days in the coastal area districts.
